Other Notes | The dance is commonly referred to as the Millbrook (Stalybridge) Morris Dance.
It was collected by Dan Howison in 1957 from 2 ex-dancers. The same year Bernard Bentley collected a version from a scoutmaster in Stalybridge who had revived the dance with members of the Stalybridge Scout Group in 1956. Further research was carried out in 1978 by Dennis Cleary of Manchester MM who interviewed some of Dan and Bernard's original sources. |
